According to reports from The Daily Star yesterday afternoon, Southampton executive director Les Reed has insisted Arsenal and Manchester United targets Nathaniel Clyne and Morgan Schneiderlin won’t be put up for sale this summer.

Clyne’s impressive form in Premier League this season, averaging the third-most tackles of any player whilst bagging two goals in 31 appearances, has seen him emerge as Roy Hodgson’s preferred choice of No.2 within the England fold.

And now set to enter the final year of his St. Mary’s contract, both Chelsea and Manchester United are believed to be courting his services – as This Is Futbol revealed earlier this month. In fact, Mirror Football’s David McDonnell has even claimed an Old Trafford deal worth around £17million is already agreed.

Meanwhile, Morgan Schneiderlin is widely viewed as the midfield enforcer Arsenal desperately need – and likewise, some sources claim the Gunners have already wrapped up a £15million deal for the France international, as This Is Futbol revealed earlier this month.

But Les Reed, who has been with Southampton since 2010, refutes these claims, informing reporters yesterday; “It wouldn’t be our intention to sell any of our players this summer. We’re in the process of renegotiating contracts with some but our main purpose at the moment is keeping this squad together and adding to it.”
