Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Brentford goalkeeper David Raya in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The north London club have a track record when it comes to signing players from fellow Premier League clubs in recent years such as Richarlison and Yves Bissouma among others.
With the next summer transfer period on the way, the Lilywhites have another top-flight figure on their radar, as do one of their London rivals.
According to a recent report from Spanish media outlet Marca (via Sport Witness), Spurs are keen on signing Raya in the summer, as are fellow London club Chelsea.
With 146 appearances to his name for the Bees across all competitions, the 27-year-old has kept 50 clean sheets in the process.
This season has seen the Spaniard face more shots on target (128) than any other shot-stopper in the league, saving 100 of them, giving him the fifth-highest save percentage in the division (77.3%), which puts him seven places above Hugo Lloris (70.7%).
Hailed for his “superb saves and immaculate distribution” by journalist Jay Harris, who also described the Brentford star as “one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League”, Raya would surely be a smart signing for Spurs to make, especially with Lloris set to enter the final year of his contract this summer.
Would you like to see Spurs sign David Raya this summer?
Yes
No
Last month, the goalkeeper revealed that he has turned down two offers from Brentford to extend his contract, which is set to expire in the summer of 2024, and that he has aspirations to play at a higher level than he currently is.
Bearing in mind how Spurs are currently playing in the Champions League and are in with a shot of being in the competition next year by finishing in a top-four place in the Premier League table, this could make joining the north London club a tempting prospect for Raya.
Moving forward, once the summer transfer window opens, we feel that the Lilywhites should definitely make an approach to Brentford in an effort to sign their shot-stopper.
