Transfer insider Dean Jones has said that Mexico ace Alexis Vega won’t be the answer to Wolves’ issues despite being a ‘lively’ option.

According to GIVEMESPORT, ‘sources’ have suggested that Vega is on the Molineux outfit’s radar.

The report suggests that the 25-year-old is also attracting interest from European heavyweights Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Currently of Chivas in Mexico’s top flight, the versatile attacker has been directly involved in seven goals in 17 appearances this term.

He started all three of his nation’s group-stage matches in Qatar as they bowed out of the World Cup at the first hurdle with Vega unable to register a goal or an assist.

Despite noting that the 25-cap ace is a bit of a sparkplug Jones does have his reservations about Vega’s end product.

Speaking to This Is Futbol he said: “I still think it’s an interesting one for them to be looking at because he is such a lively player.
“I don’t think he’s got the total goal threat that would transform their season.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

Will Wolves be relegated?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The Old Gold are the lowest-scoring team in the division having netted just eight times in 15 games this season.

Despite his former manager Tomas Boy claiming the forward as a player of ‘great quality’, Vega has only scored 24 goals in 121 appearances for his current club.

He averages a goal or assist every three games and considering he is playing in a much lesser league it’s hard to know how he would adapt in Europe let alone to the Premier League.

Valued at around £7m he would be a low-risk signing for Lopetegui but we recommend Wolves heed Jones’ warning here and steer clear for now at least.
