Pedro could become a fans favourite at Elland Road should he sign for Leeds United, according to Pete O’Rourke.

Leeds have previously been linked to the Flamengo striker earlier this week by Ben Jacobs, who claimed Jesse Marsch is a “big fan”.

The Brazilian was included in his country’s World Cup squad due to his form for Flamengo where he scored 29 times and registered ten assists, including 12 Copa Libertadores goals as Flamengo won the tournament and he was named top-scorer.

Interest in the 25-year-old will be hot with his current Flamengo contact having an £87m release clause, but O’Rourke told This Is Futbol he believes the forward is worth the chase and would be a player that Whites fans adore.

“I think if you can find a player who can bring that to the team and score goals, he’s always going to be a big fans’ favourite.

“And I’m sure that’s what the Leeds fans will be hoping that if Pedro was to arrive that he would become a bit of a folk hero for them,” O’Rourke said.

TIF Thoughts on Pedro to Leeds…

It would be a massive coup for Leeds if they were to pull the move off with his profile growing every day since he’s been named in the Brazil World Cup squad even though he’s yet to appear in their opening two group games.

Jesse Marsch is crying out for a new striker with him heavily relying on Rodrigo’s goals with Patrick Bamford yet to score this season.

Pedro could be the perfect answer with Guy Mowbray calling him an “excellent finisher” with him in the top 1% for goals amongst strikers outside Europe’s top five leagues with one goal per 90, he’s also in the top 6% for assists and top 2% for expected assists, via FBref, proving he’s the all-round package.
