Journalist, Dean Jones has given his verdict on the future of West Ham United star, Manuel Lanzini.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones claimed that David Sullivan is a ‘big fan’ of the Argentine and feels he’s an ‘important member’ of the squad.

Lanzini spent a season on loan and then joined the Hammers in 2016 for a fee of around £9 million. The 29-year-old has made 217 appearances for West Ham in all competitions.

One of his finest moments in an Irons shirt came in a 3-3 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in 2020, after being 3-0 down, Lanzini scored an absolute screamer to bring them back level.

Jones stated, “I know that Sullivan is a big fan of Lanzini and he feels that he is still a really important member of this squad.

“With that in mind, I just don’t think West Ham will lose him halfway through the season.”

TIF’s view on Jones’ comments…

So, it looks as if West Ham have taken a big U-turn on their stance as he was reportedly one of the players to leave the club in January.

We believe that West Ham should look to keep hold of Lanzini for the time being, he can be an important asset to them

He’s only made five league appearances this season, but he’s played an important part in West Ham’s Europa Conference League journey thus far. Lanzini has scored two goals in six tournament matches.

The Hammers have endured a tough Premier League campaign thus far. David Moyes’ side are 16th in the division and are only a point above the drop zone.

If West Ham to avoid relegation, they’ll need players to step up and help dig them out of this situation. Lanzini could be well called upon, seeing what he did a couple of years ago, the Argentine has the ability to pull something amazing out of his locker every now and then.

A move away from the club looks to be off the cards, perhaps we could be seeing more of Lanzini in the second half of the season.
