Tottenham Hotspur’s Antonio Conte has now held talks with Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici over a potential new deal in north London.
This is according to Alasdair Gold who has been speaking about the future of the 53-year-old at Hotspur Way on his latest YouTube video.
Conte has now been at the helm of the Lilywhites for just over one year and the Italian has now delivered Champions League football and a solid start to the 2022/23 campaign.
But there remains the issue of his long-term future with the north London side as his current deal now has just a matter of months remaining.
And although there is the belief Spurs have the option to extend his stay by another year, but Gold believes the likes of Levy are confident he will sign a longer-term deal:
(11:00) “So this week has also been a time for Antonio Conte to speak to the powers that be Daniel Levy, the chairman, obviously, the managing director of football, Fabio Paratici.
“Kind of talks over his contract, what happens next for Spurs going forward? And lots of kinds of aspects to that as well. I said this before, but what it says but I’ve wrote this before, I don’t think I’ve said this in the video before but Spurs are quite hopeful that they’re gonna get him committed to a new longer contract. They’re hopeful doesn’t mean is going to happen.”
TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…
This is certainly going to be a big topic on the minds of many Spurs fans as the season picks back up in the coming days given the relative success Spurs have had under Conte.
Do you expect Conte to sign a new deal?
Yes
No
Although an elusive trophy is still escaping the grasp of the Londoners, Conte has steadied the ship after two consecutive campaigns without Champions League football.
But with the likes of Harry Kane’s future also coming into question amid his contract winding down, we do think tieing Conte’s future down is the best thing possible for Spurs to then try and convince Kane to stay.
