Journalist, Paul Brown has told GiveMeSport that Tottenham Hotspur still have ‘interest’ in Everton’s Anthony Gordon.

Brown stated to GiveMeSport in the past that the club see ‘something special in the Everton man.

The Sun has claimed that Spurs are planning to test Everton’s resolve ahead of a possible summer move for Gordon. In the summer, fellow Premier League side, Chelsea were said to be willing to pay £60 million for the winger’s signature, per Sky Sports.

When discussing the possibility of a move in January, Brown stated he ‘can’t see’ Everton letting go of Gordon in the next window.

He stated, “The only thing that’s changed is that Chelsea may have moved on and Gordon’s form has gone off the edge of a cliff.

“I don’t think that’s something that can’t be corrected and I think there is still interest from Spurs.

“They wouldn’t pay what Chelsea were willing to pay, so it’s really whether Everton were to accept much less.

“I can’t see Everton selling Anthony Gordon for £30m, it would take the player to try and force that through.

“So, I think it’s very unlikely he leaves in January but in the summer, you might see this come back up.”

TIF’s view on Brown’s comments…

We believe that Spurs should look to seek alternative options to Anthony Gordon.

The 21-year-old, who was slammed for his ’embarrassing’ diving by pundit Noel Whelan, only has nine goal contributions across two Premier League seasons. He may be Everton’s joint-top goal scorer in the league this season (with three goals), but that demonstrates just how poor the Toffees have been in front of goal.

From 15 Premier League matches, Everton have only been able to find the back of the net 11 times, the joint-second worst in the league.

Spurs already have four strong attacking options in Harry Kane, Dejan Kulusevski, Heung-min Son and Richarlison.

If the club want to provide more depth in attacking options, they’ve been linked with better alternatives. One of them being, Marcus Thuram of Borussia Monchengladbach.

90Min reported last month that Tottenham have been keeping an eye on the Frenchman. The 25-year-old can operate down the middle and on either wing.

Furthermore, he’s been full of goals in the Bundesliga, netting 10 times in 15 matches. So, if Antonio Conte wants another option in attack, look no further than Thuram.
