Ex-Tottenham Hotspur man and pundit Jamie O’Hara has told TalkSport there is ‘no way’ Richarlison will be happy with sitting on the bench after his displays at the World Cup.

The Brazilian has played in three of his nation’s World Cup matches so far. In the process, he’s scored three times, twice against Serbia and the other coming against South Korea.

Brazil’s next test comes in the quarter-finals against Croatia. Given his excellent goal return so far, you’d expect Richarlison to lead the line for the South American side.

O’Hara doesn’t think that the 25-year-old will be happy about potentially sitting on the bench when he returns to Spurs.

He said: (3:23) “He comes back to Spurs and he’s sat on the bench and we’re playing Son, Kulusevski and Kane up front and Richarlison is back on the bench after the World Cup he’s just had. There’s no way he’s gonna be happy.”

TIF’s view on O’Hara’s comments…

It’s clear from his stats at the World Cup, that Richarlison has been a top player at the tournament. Spurs will be hoping he can use this momentum to really kick on for them in the second half of the season.

He joined in the summer from Everton, costing Tottenham, £60 million. Richarlison is yet to score a Premier League goal from 10 appearances.

It was always going to be difficult for the Spurs international to break into the side. Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski are all at the disposal of manager, Antonio Conte.

Richarlison will have to take each and every opportunity by the scruff of the neck when he comes back from the World Cup. He may not be happy to sit on the bench in the second half of the season, but he needs to prove to Conte why he should start for Spurs.
