Tottenham Hotspur could well find themselves looking for a new manager in January amid Antonio Conte’s contract concerns.

This has been suggested by the insider Graeme Bailey who has highlighted the Italian’s uncertain future in north London on the latest Talking Transfers podcast.

Conte’s future at Spurs is only tied down until the end of the current campaign but there is the expectation extension talks will take place during the World Cup break.

There have been some suggestions that Mauricio Pochettino is waiting for a return to Spurs having rejected the opportunity to become the new Aston Villa manager.

And it seems as if the Argentine may not have too long to wait if Bailey’s beliefs are anything to go by with the insider questioning Conte’s future at Spurs:

(29:00) “In terms of both of them [Harry Kane and Conte’s future] very worried. In terms of Conte and what we’re hearing in Turin with [Massimiliano] Allegri, Tottenham could be looking for a new manager in January. Quite easily.

“They could be looking at new manager within the month. It depends what Allegri is doing. This World Cup break is a big one for Spurs.”

TIF Thoughts on Bailey’s comments…

This would feel like a big step backwards for Spurs if it was to become a reality with Conte seemingly a man who is in the best position to edge Spurs closer to silverware – given his history.

Do you expect Conte to leave soon?

Yes

Yes

No

No

However, Conte has been quick to dismiss the rumours surrounding a potential return to Juventus and reliable journalist Alasdair Gold has claimed Conte is open to extension talks.

It is still less than a year since Conte took over at Spurs and, on the whole, it has been a positive appointment and with more transfer windows under his belt we think the upwards trajectory should continue in N17.
