Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton and Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker have called out Joe Hart for a “horrible” display during Celtic’s latest outing in Europe.

The ex-Hoops ace was on duty for BT Sport for the Bhoys’ trip to take on RB Leipzig on matchday three of the UEFA Champions League.

Despite falling to a 3-1 defeat on the night the Scottish champions found their way back into the game early in the second half as Jota equalised following Christopher Nkunku’s opener after 27 minutes.

Just past the hour, Dominik Szoboszlai unleashed a fearsome drive that flew past Hart into the bottom corner.

However, with Andre Silva deemed to be standing in an offside position and blocking the eye-line of the goalkeeper the goal was ruled out.

But 30 seconds later Hart then gifted the ball to Szoboszlai in his own defensive third and he fed Silva for the Portuguese to slide the ball beyond the former England no.1.

While on co-commentary for BT Sport (via BBC Sport) Sutton said:

“It’s a horror show from Hart. It really is horrible.”

Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker said he ‘can’t believe’ the goalkeeper attempted the pass.

Infamously axed by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City for his deficiencies on the ball, Hart has been assured presence since his move to Parkhead.

He kept 18 clean sheets and conceded just 17 goals in 32 appearances in the Scottish Premiership last season and won many critics over who thought he may have been past it including club journalist Craig Hope and Mark Schwarzer.

Sutton previously dubbed his acquisition a “masterstroke” but his mistake tonight was costly and leaves Celtic with a lot to do if they are to make it into the last-16 of Europe’s top competition.

Ange Postecoglou’s side remain bottom of Group F with just one point ahead of their return fixture with Leipzig on Tuesday.
