Journalist Matthew Fulton has slammed Celtic’s David Turnbull following his cameo appearance this weekend.

After claiming the lead at Celtic Park, Ange Postecoglou watched on as his side relinquished their advantage and went into half-time on level terms despite having several chances to extend their lead.

Celtic would win the game 2-1 and move back to the top of the SPFL table after their Old Firm rivals won earlier in the afternoon, but it wasn’t a perfect display from the Bhoys, with Turnbull picked out for specific criticism for his display against Montherwell.

Turnbull was only handed the last 25 minutes of football but was poor according to Fulton, who had this to say on the 4/10 midfielder:

“Neat movement from the ex-Motherwell man after coming on but did miss chances to release forwards and his play got sloppier and sloppier. Nearly caused a lost goal.”

Is Turnbull good enough for Celtic?

TIF Thoughts on Turnbull’s display…

The former Motherwell player was sent on by Postecogolou to make a positive impact on the game with his side leading 2-1, although he appeared to do the opposite, with his game getting worse and worse as time passed by according to Fulton.

Turnbull has only been afforded four league starts this season, which only accounts for half of the Bhoys’ campaign so far – and today’s display perhaps showcased why he evidently has other players ahead of him in the pecking order.

This English Premier League winner almost moved to Celtic.

The Scotland international failed to register a single shot or key pass during his second-half cameo (WhoScored), which won’t have done anything to help him convince Postecoglou he deserves to start more often in the Premiership.
