Alasdair Gold has heaped praise on young Tottenham Hotspur ace Jamie Donley by comparing him to Harry Kane while speaking on his YouTube channel.

Tottenham’s Under 21s were in action this midweek prior to the first team playing in the Champions League and Gold was in attendance to watch maestro Donley put in yet another top-class performance.

Donley just recently committed his long-term future to Spurs signing his first professional contract but now with the youngster now tearing things up in midfield amongst his own age group, it could now be time for him to step up into the first team, something he could be capable of if he’s anything like Kane.

Gold believes there are similarities between the two, which is very high praise for Donley.

(55:09) “Alfie Devine looked like a player that was playing at the wrong level for him, he and Jamie Donley.

“Jamie Donley is known as a striker really but he’s been playing in midfield he was playing in a 4-3-3, they were both either side of Matthew Craig in the middle who got sent off for what was deemed a stamp near the end of the game.

Will Spurs be active in January?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Donley’s kind of move back into this midfield role this season is mainly because they’ve struggled for players in the midfield because they’ve had like Jamie Bowden who’s had a bad injury and a couple of others they haven’t had available.

“But also just to kind of round out his game because he’s very creative he’s a bit like Harry Kane, he’s got a very nice touch on him and a through ball.”

TIF Thoughts on Donley…

The Spurs youngster is still not even 18, so perhaps making the jump up to the first team is very seen as a long shot, however, maybe next summer after a season of playing youth football, he could head out on loan lower down the leagues to develop his first team experience.

How well do you know where these Spurs signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! Firstly, where did Dimitar Berbatov arrive from?

Tottenham won’t want to expose Donley to too much too soon and then ruin his development by rushing him through the ranks and given Spurs’ options in the middle of the pitch, there is no need to get him involved in the first team picture, and instead allowing him to naturally progress up the ranks is likely a better option.
