Tottenham Hotspur owner Joe Lewis is not stepping away from the club despite the recent development seen on Companies House.

This has been clarified by the reliable journalist Alasdair Gold who has been discussing the speculation surrounding the 85-year-old on his latest YouTube video.

It was announced on Sunday of the cessation of Lewis as a person of significant control over the company with Bryan Glinton and Katie Booth named as the two people with significant control.

“Tottenham Hotspur Limited (the “Company”) has filed changes to its register of persons with significant control (PSCs) following a reorganisation of the Lewis Family Trusts. The new PSCs of the Company are the officers of the family’s discretionary trust,” said a Spurs spokesperson (via Evening Standard).

Gold does not believe there is anything more to this matter than Lewis making some adjustments and there would be no major changes to the running of the club:

“So from kind of having some further digging around and asking around, from what I understand, anyone getting excited or anyone thinking that this might be a takeover or anything to that effect, it is not.

“As it is, nothing changes for Tottenham Hotspur whatsoever. It’s simply a family trust restructure. So it doesn’t change anything for Spurs as they have and they will continue to be owned by Joe Lewis and his family trust and run by chairman Daniel Levy.

“I can only presume this is something that maybe as a financial thing, maybe benefits financially in some way. I don’t know.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

There will certainly have been a number of Spurs fans who would have been hoping this would have meant a potential change in the ownership of the club.

And there has been speculation over a potential change off the field with Daniel Levy hosting Forrest Li at a game less than 12 months ago.

Spurs seem like they are in a good spot at the moment with Antonio Conte being handed a decent transfer kitty over the summer, perhaps stability is what the Lilywhites need right now.
