Journalist Charles Watts has expressed his concern after Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe suffered an injury scare.

In the Premier League this weekend, the Gunners fell to a 3-1 defeat, but it seems as though the bad news didn’t stop with the result.

Indeed, after the game, journalist David Ornstein noted that Smith Rowe appeared to pull up with an injury and ‘looked distressed’ during the Arsenal warm-down – sharing this information on Twitter with some pitchside images.

While speaking about the possible issue on his own YouTube channel, Watts said the disappointed look on Smith Rowe’s face could hint at a bad injury.

He explained his reaction, saying: “The look on his face, judging by the pictures you saw – David Ornstein tweeted some pictures, he was out pitchside at that point, I think, doing something for one of the American broadcasters and he tweeted some pictures.

“You could see just how disappointed he [Smith Rowe] looked, and that’s never a good sign because players tend to know exactly how bad things are when they do do injuries. So we’ll wait to see that on Smith Rowe.”

TIF Thoughts on Emile Smith Rowe and Arsenal…

Unfortunately for the Englishman, he has been eased into action this season and is yet to start in the Premier League so far, making four appearances from the bench. And now it seems as though his momentum could be interrupted even further.

As of yet, it remains unclear as to how long, if at all, the midfielder will be out for. But as Watts points out, it doesn’t look good – especially if we study Smith Rowe’s own personal reaction to the issue.

Still only 22 years of age, the youngster’s career has already been disrupted by a number of injuries – most notably while he was on loan with RB Leipzig – and it will be concerning if another setback occurs now.

No doubt, all involved with the club will be hoping for a more positive update soon.
