Trevor Sinclair slammed Vladimir Coufal for his costly mistake during West Ham United’s victory last night,

The Hammers recorded a convincing 3-1 victory last night in their Europa Conference League qualifier against Viborg, with new signing Gialunca Scamacca getting on the scoresheet via a Maxwel Cornet assist, which will have been a promising sight for David Moyes.

However, it wasn’t all easy and straightforward for West Ham who failed to keep a clean sheet as they saw themselves pegged back to 2-1 just before the 70th minute after Coufal was easily beaten at the back post.

Sinclair certainly picked up on the Coufal mistake rather swiftly as he tweeted: “Coufal hasn’t got a clue where the goalscorer is!! Can’t let the attacker see your number.”

TIF Thoughts on Coufal’s performance…

Is Coufal good enough for West Ham?

No!

While the mistake from Coufal wasn’t that much of a costly one as West Ham managed to leave the London Stadium with a two-goal advantage heading into next week’s reverse fixture, it’s not great to be leaking goals against a team currently fifth in the Danish top division.

In all fairness, Coufal, who lost possession 16 times, was playing in a slightly unfamiliar position at left-back due to injuries and the suspension to Aaron Cresswell, however, he still should have been switched on enough to help defend against the goal West Ham ended up conceding.

Moyes will likely have been unimpressed with what he saw from Coufal for the goal, and with the recent signing of Thilo Kehrer, who can play in Coufal’s natural right-back spot, the Czech Republic international may need to cut out these sorts of mistakes to ensure he doesn’t lose his spot in the side moving forward.
