Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that Conor Gallagher is being tracked by West Ham United as a possible loan signing.

Throughout the summer, the Hammers seemed to be intent on signing Armando Broja, but failed to agree a deal and have since signed forward Gianluca Scamacca to play up top this season instead.

However, it has emerged that while West Ham spoke with Chelsea over a possible deal for their young striker, Gallagher also ‘came up in discussions’ at the same time.

Indeed, Ex revealed as much in a recent update on The West Ham Way Patreon page, while adding that he could still be an option should the Blues put the midfielder up for loan once again.

Ex said: “Another midfielder who we have been tracking all window is Conor Gallagher of Chelsea and he has come up in discussions when we tried to get Broja.

“Chelsea kept rejecting our advances, as they did with Broja. Should the player become available for a loan, like with Broja now, we would push through the deal for one of those players, although under Premier League rulings, you can only have one player on loan from the same domestic team at the same time. There are other loans being considered as well.”

TIF Thoughts on Conor Gallagher and West Ham…

Gallagher, who was praised as a ‘leader’ last season, has spent the two prior seasons out on loan at Crystal Palace and West Brom, so he would make sense as an option to come in a make a good impact at West Ham given his previous exploits, particularly at Selhurst Park last term.

He certainly impressed last year with the Eagles, doing enough to earn an international call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad, and he now has four senior caps to his name.

However, as Ex makes clear, Chelsea have rejected any offers so far, but if Gallagher was to push for a move – perhaps with an eye on more minutes ahead of the upcoming World Cup – the Blues may well allow him to leave on loan.

If that is the case, it seems as though David Moyes and co will push firmly to make him a Hammer before the transfer window slams shut at the start of September.
