Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United have an interest in signing midfielder Ibrahim Sangare.

The Hammers are evidently looking to bolster that part of the field, but their failed pursuit of Amadou Onana – who looks set

to join Everton instead – means that will have to look elsewhere.

Well, it seems as though they have already been doing their homework on an alternative option with Ex saying that head of recruitment Rob Newman has been impressed when watching Sangare play for PSV.

While discussing the possible transfer on The West Ham Way Patreon page, Ex outlined his understanding of the present situation.

He wrote: “Whilst we were covering and researching the [Maxwel] Cornet deal we were told that the club could make a move for his international team mate Ibrahim Sangare of PSV.

“It is thought that Rob Newman watched Monaco v PSV in the Champions League. Sangare was subbed off but apparently put in a good shift as the club contemplated making a move.

“There is a possibility that other players stood out and could be subject to a move but it seems most likely that Sangare was the player being most considered.

“He is a defensive midfielder, 6’3 and 24 years of age and would represent a much better deal than Onana financially.

“Once more there are a number of clubs said to be keen and he had been linked with a number of top clubs this summer and could be one of the players we target next along with some of the other midfielders we have mentioned. We will update you if we hear anymore.

TIF thoughts on Ibrahim Sangare and West Ham…

Still only 24, Sangare has already won three trophies in Holland with PSV and has good experience playing in top European competitions too.

On top of that, he has also been linked with a summer move to Manchester United and Chelsea, so he seems to be highly rated by more than just West Ham – though he could be a realistic option with his release clause set at about £29.8m.

With all that in mind, the Hammers may well face stiff competition for his signature if they really do have a genuine interest in the midfielder, but after missing out on Onana they may have to push the boat out if they want to get this deal over the line.
