Tottenham Hotspur will look to add an attacking midfielder to the squad during the transfer window if the right option comes up.
That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to This is Futbol about Spurs’ remaining transfer business going into the final few weeks of the transfer window.
Antonio Conte has welcomed six players to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, but Fabio Paratici has not been able to provide him with a new creative midfielder for his squad as of yet.
The club have been linked with a move for Leicester City’s forward-minded midfielder James Maddison, but an official bid has not yet been submitted, and it is not known whether a move for the 25-year-old will be made this summer.
And O’Rourke believes that the Lilywhites will be interested in adding a creative midfielder to their squad during the transfer window should the opportunity arise before it closes on 1st September.
He said: “I think they definitely will be looking to see if they can bring in an attacking midfielder so they can add a bit of creativity to the side.
“It’s probably a position that they’ve lacked since Christian Eriksen left the club maybe, that creative midfielder.
“I think Spurs have had a successful transfer window so far this summer, and I’m sure if the right options come up between now and the close of the window, that Spurs will be right in there trying to add that extra player to the squad.”
TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…
We believe that Spurs fans will be delighted to hear that the club would be open to signing a No 10 this summer, with that being a position the squad is severely lacking.
We believe that Conte’s forward line of Harry Kane, Richarlison, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski will be something to behold this season, but the addition of a top-quality creative midfielder will be the cherry on top of the cake.
Therefore, we believe that Paratici and Daniel Levy should be going all-out with their remaining transfer budget and investing heavily in a suitable attacking midfielder to play behind that potentially formidable forward line.
