Nottingham Forest are now showing an interest in signing defender Japhet Tanganga in the coming days.
This is according to Fabrizio Romano, who was speaking on his latest Here We Go podcast and sharing his insight into Forest’s plans for the final week of the summer window.
Tanganga has been included in Antonio Conte’s matchday squad in their last two outings, however, he is yet to come off the bench in either of those games amid reports of a potential exit from N17.
It is believed reigning Serie A champions Milan are another club looking at Tanganga and remain the preferred landing spot for the 23-year-old.
But as Romano claims, it appears Forest – who have already welcomed plenty of players this summer – are interested in taking Tanganga on a permanent deal, whereas Milan are looking at the possibility of a loan deal.
He said: “AC Milan want a loan with [an] option-to-buy clause. Nottingham Forest want to sign him, so we have to understand what the player wants to do. But Tanganga could be the next one to leave Tottenham.”
TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…
Tanganga is certainly a player who holds a lot of potential and has shown glimpses of that, with his hugely impressive debut against Liverpool springing to mind.
Do you want Tanganga at Forest?
Yes
No
However, there has been a big issue with the 23-year-old when comes to his injury record, which has certainly played a big part in him not being able to make a real claim for a regular spot in the starting XI.
But if the reigning Serie A champions are interested in him, this is surely a positive sign for anyone who may doubt the defender after a difficult recent run at Spurs, so we think there is cause for optimism if Forest can somehow win the race for the defender.
