According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United outcast Alex Telles has garnered interest and could be on the way out of the Premier League club this summer.
The Red Devils are looking to part ways with the deadwood in the side since the arrival of Erik ten Hag, with the likes of Dean Henderson and Andreas Pereira already gone and Aaron Wan-Bissaka linked with a possible move away.
However, as revealed by Romano, Telles could be next on the chopping block as teams are exploring the possibility of signing the left-back this summer – but claims his former club Porto are not interested.
Romano said: “Another name is Alex Telles. It’s not true that Porto want him back at the moment, there are no negotiations. But other clubs are exploring this possibility, and so Alex Telles could be the next one to leave Man United in the coming weeks.”
TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…
United will need to get rid of a lot of players that Ten Hag doesn’t want in the side if they are to develop under the former Ajax manager, so they cannot force him to rely on any players that are not deemed good enough.
Telles may well be one of these players to leave this summer, as he has struggled to displace Luke Shaw since he arrived.
The Brazilian made 21 Premier League appearances last season and managed four assists, and only managed to rank in the 67th percentile for tackles, in the 50th for interceptions and in the 19th for pressures per game, according to FBref.
United need to back Ten Hag and give him the money he needs to develop and bring this squad back to challenging for the top four and eventually get back to a title challenge. It will be hard, but this feels like a great chance.
