Ben Dinnery has tipped Rodrigo to lead the line for Leeds United this weekend in Patrick Bamford’s absence.

Leeds have had an impressive start to the 2022/23 Premier League campaign, picking up four points from a possible six, but Patrick Bamford picked up an injury in the second game of the season, which forced him off in the 28th minute.

Rodrigo has started the season well, after he has found the back of the net three times in the opening two fixtures of the season, and he could be a potential option up top for Jesse Marsch with Bamford’s injury.

With Bamford picking up an injury for Leeds last weekend, Dinnery spoke on the Premier FPL Injuries YouTube channel and claimed that he thinks Rodrigo could lead the line for the Whites against Chelsea.

“For me, I think Rodrigo leads that Leeds line, and Daniel James comes in with Harrison probably sitting in behind Rodrigo,” Dinnery said.

TIF Thoughts on Dinnery’s comments…

Bamford had severe injury woes last season for Leeds, meaning that he was only able to feature nine times in the Premier League, but this has still not led to Marsch bringing in a new striker, even though they have made seven additions in other areas of the pitch.

Will either Patrick Bamford or Liam Cooper play this weekend?

Joe Gelhardt was not fit enough for the bench in the previous match, so the Bamford injury proved even more costly, as Daniel James had to come on and lead the line, where he featured last season in Bamford’s absence.

Rodrigo could be a good option up top for Marsch this weekend because he has already shown his goal-scoring form from the attacking midfield role, so he could prove an even greater goal-scoring threat if he is leading the line, albeit against a strong Chelsea side, who have also picked up four points from a possible six so far.
