Dan Cook has revealed on the HLTCO podcast what people he trusts have had to say about Crystal Palace transfer target Ismaila Sarr.

It has been reported by Foot Mercato that Palace are interested in making a late-window move for Sarr, who may have sprung back to the forefront of people’s minds following his outrageous halfway-line strike last week.

Sarr is said to be of interest to Palace and Leeds United this summer, although it may be a difficult deal to complete given Watford have already lost Emmanuel Dennis and could be about to lose Joao Pedro if they accept Newcastle United’s approach.

Cook, however, has revealed that Palace do indeed want Sarr and that also, the player is keen on a move to Selhurst Park.

He said: “It’s not something that I normally do on this podcast, I like to keep the information that I am given by people that I’m minded to trust relatively close to my chest, but in this particular instance, I will say that I know Crystal Palace do want Ismaila Sarr, I know that he wants to come.

Would Sarr improve Palace?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“That isn’t really, I suppose, too much of a giant leap – it’s a move back into the Premier League, he is someone that has made his mark in the top flight already and will be very much open to a switch to the top flight of English football once again.

“It is now just a case of working out a deal, but as I say, Dougie Freedman is very, very keen on him. I know that Patrick Vieira is also very keen on him.”

TIF Thoughts on Palace’s interest in Sarr…

Given the exciting options Vieira already has on his hands at Palace, including the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze and Odsonne Edouard, adding someone such as Sarr would make that attacking lineup terrifying for most defences in the Premier League.

Think you're the biggest Crystal Palace fan? Then who is the club's record signing?

Sarr would bring about Premier League experience, racking up 50 appearances in the top flight while registering 18 goal involvements in that time. However, it may be a case of Watford only letting go one of Pedro or Sarr this summer, so Palace may have to move quickly to secure this signing as it’s unlikely the Hornets will want to lose their entire front three in one transfer window.

However, something that could well help Palace in their pursuit of Sarr is that he seemingly wants the move and Palace seem very keen on the player according to Cook.

And if the winger begins to agitate for a move, he may become more of a hindrance to Watford if he doesn’t have the right mindset and thus help push through a move.
