Tottenham Hotspur are still yet to offer an improved bid of more than £10m for the Middlesbrough right wing-back, Djed Spence, but a deal is advancing.
This has been claimed by the transfer specialist Ryan Taylor who discussed Tottenham’s early business on his latest YouTube video.
Spence has been linked with Spurs for weeks now, however, there does not seem to have been any major breakthrough to close out a deal for the 21-year-old.
Around a month ago, it was claimed Spurs had agreed on a deal to buy the Englishman, however, this proved not to be the case with Spence returning to training on Monday.
There have been suggestions Middlesbrough are looking for a fee in the region of £20m this summer but as Taylor claimed, the Lilywhites are yet to raise their £10m offer:
(19:20) “And just finally I wanted to touch quickly on to Middlesbrough. They’re keen to push for a deal for Djed Spence and let him join Tottenham. See, Tottenham are yet to raise their offer although they’re advancing in talks with Boro.
“They’re still yet to raise that offer to get a deal over the line. Boro are obviously resigned to losing Spence but they need that money through the door to fund a promotion push.”
TIF Thoughts on Taylor’s comments…
This is likely to be a saga which will have the Spurs faithful growing in frustration given we are not necessarily talking about a huge figure deal as was seen with Richarlison.
Do you expect Spence to be signed by Saturday?
Yes
No
It is apparent Spurs are keen to bring Spence to north London, and we are sure Antonio Conte will want him on their flight to South Korea this weekend.
With the youngster having no experience playing in the Premier League, we think it is essential he makes the pre-season tour this weekend to provide him with the best opportunity to adapt to his new side.
