Tottenham Hotspur will have their eyes on a last-minute deal for a luxury addition in this summer’s transfer window.

This has been claimed by transfer guru Dean Jones, who has been discussing Fabio Paratici’s dealings so far for the north London club on the latest Ranks FC podcast.

Spurs appear to be heading towards the backend of the summer window with a deal for Djed Spence still being targeted as the sixth arrival.

However, Jones believes Spurs will unlikely be able to resist a deal which may pop up late in the window, with a luxury addition potentially too good to turn down.

It is believed an attacking midfielder was an area Spurs were open to addressing, and having pulled out of the race for Christian Eriksen, this could be an area where Spurs look to add.

Jones said: “They’ve had a really good window so far. All their priorities are going to be ticked off if Spence comes through the door, and then the idea was always that the last week or two, when we know Tottenham can’t resist a deal at the last minute and going in for somebody.

“So I think if they’re going to go in for a No 10-type player, it’s not beyond the question that they would do that, but it’d be a luxury player who comes in at the last minute who is suddenly made available. And they’ll go for it.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

We have been incredibly impressed with Paratici’s work this summer given he has addressed a lot of the areas targeted for improvement at such an early time in the window.

And this will surely put Spurs in a favourable position going into the latter stages, as they’re able to sit back and keep an eye on any potential deals which may become available without having to worry about a long list of improvements.

Spurs landed two deals on the final day of the January window, so we are expecting the Lilywhites to be keeping an eye on the market right up until the last moment.
