Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has said on the Que Golazo podcast that Tottenham Hotspur target Lucas Paqueta ‘dreams’ of playing in the Premier League.
His comments come amid reports that Spurs have joined a growing list of admirers interested in the Lyon midfielder, and having previously told GiveMeSport that the club have not shut the door on bringing in another attacker before the window closes, perhaps Paqueta will be the player they target.
Journalist Dean Jones has also revealed that Fabio Paratici may swoop to bring in a ‘luxury’ addition towards the back end of the summer, and Romano’s revelation certainly leaves the door open for a potential move.
The Italian journalist was prompted to speak about the 24-year-old when asked about a rumoured offer from Arsenal and confirmed that there are no bids on the table as yet.
He said: “It’s a player that I would watch until the end of the market because he dreams of Premier League football.
“His agents are working around Europe to find a solution, because for the player, it could be an opportunity to leave Lyon for €65m plus add-ons. And so let’s see what happens with Paqueta in the end.
“At the moment there is still no bid, but it’s a name I would follow until the end.”

Romano points out that an initial £54.8m would be needed to bring the former Milan maestro to north London, and having spent close to £80m already, with Djed Spence next in line to arrive, it would certainly be an out-of-character pocket reach from Daniel Levy.
The Lilywhites failed to follow up their interest in Christian Eriksen, which may seem to suggest that the club aren’t interested in an attack-minded midfielder, however, having ranked in the top 1% among his positional peers for tackles per 90 and in the top 9% of shots per game (FBRef), Levy could be persuaded to part with a hefty sum for one of Europe’s brightest and well-rounded maestros.
