Journalist Alasdair Gold has said that Antonio Conte’s pre-season training methods are ‘brutal’ for the Tottenham Hotspur players.

Right now, Spurs are preparing for the upcoming Premier League season by undergoing a tour of South Korea. And while overseas, it seems as though the players are truly being put through their paces.

Indeed, Gold travelled out to report on the north London club and was able to attend one of Conte’s routines which saw him witness players ‘collapsing’ due to the intensity of it all, sharing a series of images from the session.

The journalist also outlined his take on what he saw, writing on Twitter: “Brutal training sessions under Conte. The players are being put through repeated full-pitch runs after two hours of training.

“Players dropping out, feeling the heat and pace, before re-joining the group. Kane and Son among those feeling the pace, collapsing and then re-joining.”

TIF Thoughts on Antonio Conte and Spurs…

It is interesting to hear Son Heung-min named as one of those who was really ‘feeling the pace’. The South Korean initially seemed delighted to welcome his teammates to his country, but may now be feeling a little less enthusiastic about it all.

However, the brutal nature of it won’t likely come as a surprise to anyone who knows much about Conte and his methods. Indeed, the Italian is well known for his intense training sessions and they have been credited as playing a key part in his success.

With that in mind, the Tottenham players may be suffering right now – judging from Gold’s comments they certainly are – but it could all pay dividends later on in the season.
