Journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur might be preparing to make a surprising deal at the end of the transfer market.

Tottenham Hotspur were impressive last season after they managed to clinch the fourth spot in the Premier League, meaning that they have qualified for the Champions League next season. Antonio Conte has seen this as an opportunity to bolster his squad and he has already made four additions since the start of the window.

Although Spurs have already signed four players, they have been linked with several other players over a potential move to the club, such as Djed Spence and Anthony Gordon, so Conte might not be ready to settle for the players that he has already acquired.

With Spurs being linked to other players this summer, Romano has claimed to GiveMeSport that there could be another surprising deal from Paratici before the start of next season for Spurs.

“I would keep the situation open for Tottenham because I know how Paratici works.

“He’s always ready to make a surprising deal at the end of the market,” Romano said.

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

Spurs have already acquired Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, and Richarlison, so Conte is keen on strengthening most areas of the pitch with his new signings. The next position he might look to upgrade could be a central defender after Ben Davies occupied the role last term, and he is naturally a left-back.

With Spurs qualifying for the Champions League, this has opened the door in terms of the calibre of players that they can now attract to sign for the club, so there could be some more big names being added to the squad before the start of next season.

With Romano claiming that there could be a surprise deal at the end of the window, it will be interesting to see what happens to some of the current players, in terms of potentially being told to find a new club, in order to make way for the new players to come in.
