Dharmesh Sheth has been speaking about Newcastle United’s interest in Armando Broja on the Transfer Talk podcast.

So far Newcastle have been linked with more experienced strikers such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ivan Toney and Andrea Belotti, but the most recent name to emerge is 20-year old Broja who may be available on loan once again.

Broja, who managed to net nine goals across all competitions last season is said to be of interest on Tyneside and he seemingly already has the approval of Newcastle legend Alan Shearer who claimed the Albanian striker was ‘clinical’ after watching him last campaign.

Sheth believes that the Magpies are looking to sign Broja on loan this summer.

Would you like Newcastle to sign Broja?

(49:45) “This is getting interesting actually, Newcastle are the latest club interested in signing the Chelsea forward, they’ve discussed him as a possible loan signing.

“West Ham, you remember, are also interested and Southampton, he was of course on loan at Southampton, had a very successful season at St Mary’s last season.”

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle’s interest in Broja…

While Sheth claimed that Broja had a successful season on loan with Southampton, just nine goals in 38 appearances isn’t that impressive and wouldn’t likely see the striker arrive and immediately cause Callum Wilson any troubles in terms of being dislodged as the number one striker.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

However, as claimed by Chris Waugh on the latest episode of Pod on the Tyne, Newcastle are now looking to sign a younger striker or bring one in on loan, and Broja would certainly tick both of those boxes, so the Magpies’ interest is not something surprising.
