Dean Jones has been speaking on The Done Deal Show about Manchester United transfer target Antony.

While a lot of the focus has been on Man United’s pursuit of one of Erik ten Hag’s former players, Frenkie de Jong, another target appears to also be on the Red Devils’ shopping list in the form of winger Antony.

It has been reported that Ten Hag would like to link up once again with the Brazilian, who featured 32 times under the Dutch boss last season and registered 22 goal involvements – including six in the Champions League.

However, he won’t come cheap this summer, although talks are expected to speed up this week, according to Jones.

He said: “I can’t see Man United going up towards £70m for Antony, based on the way that they’ve pushed back any negotiation that’s got towards those levels. Man United have been very cautious about how much they were going to pay.

“I mean, you think of Frenkie de Jong alone, I think it’s initially like a €75m transfer, right, and that’s for Frenkie de Jong, one of the best midfielders in the world and a player that they clearly are prioritising.

Is Antony worth £70 million?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“Antony, don’t get me wrong, is a player that they really admire and like, but I don’t believe that they are that desperate for him that they are going to spend that amount of money on him.

“So I think he’s definitely one that they’re going to look at, I said last week that I was told from Monday expect negotiations to ramp up on Antony, so let’s see how that happens this week.”

In this quiz, we will take a look at who topped the club's scoring charts and when. First, who was United's top scorer this season?

It’s no surprise that Ten Hag is keen on landing Antony as he’s undertaking a big job at Old Trafford, so having players in and around the squad that can help him get his ideas and tactics across quickly would surely only be a benefit.

However, given that the Red Devils have already splashed out £65m, as well as plenty on Christian Eriksen’s wages – as well as being said to have agreed a £71m fee with Barcelona for De Jong – to then splash out around £70m would be a whole lot of money to improve just one position where they already have the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.
