Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United will have to clarify Cristiano Ronaldo’s stance before they ‘jump’ into a move for Benjamin Sesko.

As reported by the Italian journalist, the RB Salzburg striker is being looked at by the Red Devils, claiming that they are ‘well-informed’ and consider the Slovenian ‘really talented’.

The 19-year-old could possibly be recruited if Ronaldo decides to leave Old Trafford this summer.

The Portuguese superstar is set to make his long-awaited return to Manchester on Tuesday, as claimed by David Ornstein, as the forward’s Old Trafford future appears to hang in the balance.

In the event that Ten Hag does lose United’s top scorer from last season, Sesko could be the man they turn to – and Romano is now insisting that a deal hinges on Ronaldo’s future.

Speaking on The United Stand, he said: “Let’s see what happens with the negotiations, because at the moment, from what I’m told, it is not an imminent deal, it is not an advanced deal because of Cristiano – so they need to clarify this Cristiano issue as soon as possible and then to decide on the striker.

“But Sesko is one of the players appreciated and could be an option.

“There is a point – it’s about Red Bull Salzburg, because from what I’m told, they had no plan to sell Sesko this summer.

“Their original plan was to sell the player in summer 2023 for a different price, because this summer, I think it will be difficult to sign him for less than £55-60m – this could be the price tag, so not an easy one.

“Then, when you have Man United jumping into the race, maybe the club can change their position or the player also, because we know that Man United, of course, you’re attractive for a player like Sesko, and so I think it is matter of days to understand if Man United will decide to jump into it or not.

“They consider Sesko a top talent; a player who could be Man United-level in a few months or maybe years.

“But we have to wait for Cristiano to understand if Man United will decide to jump into it or not.”

TIF Thoughts on Sesko and Man United…

Will Ronaldo stay at United?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Sesko made 37 appearances for Salzburg last season, scoring 11 times and producing a further seven assists.

That record is all the more impressive considering he only made 14 starts throughout the campaign and was directly involved in a goal every 87 minutes.

The new campaign in Austria is already underway and he has picked up where he left off with two goals and an assist in two games – and it is clear to see why he is attracting interest from Manchester.

Despite his tender age, he has already been capped 13 times by his country and it could be a name for United supporters to keep an eye on regardless of whether he is brought in this summer or not given his profile and Ronaldo nearing retirement.

The longer this farce with ronaldo and de Jong goes on the more united will miss out on players. Let’s face it the only players they have bought play in the Netherlands or have played for ajax
