Leeds United kicked off their pre-season tour of Australia with a 2-1 win over Brisbane Roar.
All three goals came in the first half with Joe Gelhardt and Dan James scoring two in two minutes for the Whites before seeing their advantage halved before the half-time whistle.
With numerous changes in the second half, the broken nature of the game severely affected the contest and the scoreline remained the same.
Jesse Marsch made six changes at half-time, but his first alteration came after half an hour, when new signing Luis Sinisterra was introduced, but he only played another 30 minutes.
The £21m arrival did appear to struggle in his first appearance, though, and failed to make a telling impact on the game.
TIF Thoughts on Sinisterra and Leeds…
Will Leeds survive next season?
While it is very easy to dismiss pre-season friendlies, you would still certainly rather see players impressing than struggling to find their feet.
Last term, Sinisterra rose to prominence, contributing to 37 goals in 49 games and he will have been brought in with the hope of reproducing those numbers at Leeds.
Noel Whelan, like many Leeds supporters, was left excited by the announcement of the signing and told Football Insider he looks a really ‘mouth-watering prospect’.
It is early days yet for the 23-year-old, but with Raphinha’s move to Barcelona all but official, Whites supporters will be hopeful the Colombian flyer can bring his best to Yorkshire.
