Leeds United: Phil Hay drops positive De Ketelaere claim

|

Phil Hay has dropped an interesting claim on Leeds United transfer target Charles De Ketelaere.

Leeds seem set to lose a huge chunk of their attacking output with Raphinha close to becoming the latest player to depart Elland Road this summer following Kalvin Phillips’ exit to the Premier League champions.

After arriving in the summer of 2020, Raphinha went on to rack up 29 goal involvements in the Premier League, so he will need to be replaced this summer – and that is why Leeds are looking to sign the Belgium international De Ketelaere.

Hay has claimed, while speaking on The Phil Hay Show, that Leeds are able to meet both the club and player’s demands.

He said: “They are and have been hugely keen on Charles De Ketelaere. They can meet Brugge’s terms on that, they can meet his personal terms as well.”

TIF Thoughts on Leeds’ interest in De Ketelaere…

While those words may well point towards an obvious and potentially seamless deal for Leeds to complete and bring De Ketelaere to Elland Road, that doesn’t appear to be the case, as he’s also attracting interest from Serie A champions Milan.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that De Ketelaere is stalling on a move to Leeds in favour of joining the Italian giants, however, with the Whites now having a lot of money burning a hole in their pocket, they could make a personal offer to De Ketelaere that is simply too good financially to turn down.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

It’s obvious that Milan are not the financial powerhouse that they used to be years ago, as they were only recently outmuscled by Newcastle United in their pursuit of Sven Botman, so there may still be hope for Leeds in their pursuit of De Ketelaere.
