Phil Hay has admitted that he’s been left impressed by two Leeds United players thus far in pre-season.

Jesse Marsch is working with a rather new-look Leeds squad this summer having seen five first-team players from last season leave either permanently or temporarily on loan, whereas six new faces have been brought into the club as they look to have a calmer season this time around.

A lot of Leeds’ new arrivals have came from a team owned by the Red Bull group and in turn, will have worked with Marsch during his previous jobs which should see them take to his tactics and style of play rather seamlessly.

Hay has picked out two players on The Phil Hay Show that have impressed him so far in pre-season.

Will Leeds be in another relegation battle?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

(12:27) “I’ve liked a lot the look of Roca so far, seen good things in Kristensen in periods. I think, and Michael [Normanton] touched on this and I think he’s absolutely right, you now feel that in the system Marsch is trying to use there are at least the right midfielders for the right type of roles. It does feel more like round pegs in round holes there.”

TIF Thoughts on Leeds’ new arrivals settling in…

It is usually quite a big risk for a club to go out and make wholesale changes in one transfer window as players require time to gel and it’s difficult to know how teams will do without players they’ve decided to move on, but Hay already seems impressed by both Marc Roca and Rasmus Kristensen.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

It will be imperative that Roca can hit the ground running with Leeds embarking on their first season without Kalvin Phillips as a regular starter since 2016. And with the former having only started six league games over the last two seasons, a lot of eyes will be on him from the off.
