ExWHUemployee has revealed an update on the status of top West Ham United target Nayef Aguerd, who has now landed in London ahead of a deal with the club after a brief scare over the potential transfer.

The Hammers have been fairly quiet in the transfer window so far, but they need to continue to build the squad under David Moyes after securing Europa Conference League football and amid interest from top clubs for stars Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen.

One player who they have been continuously linked with since the start of the window is Rennes defender Aguerd, who impressed last season in Ligue 1 as his club finished fourth, just three points off Monaco in third.

They have been reportedly close to signing the player, but it was revealed that Premier League rivals Newcastle United were set to swoop in for the player while the player travelled to London for a medical. However, according to ExWHUemployee, the player has arrived at Rush Green to complete his medical ahead of the finalising of the transfer.

He wrote on Patreon: “After all the panic yesterday we are delighted to announce that Nayef Aguerd is in the building! The Moroccan defender is currently at Rush Green to complete his medical and media work. Fingers crossed all goes to plan.”

TIF Thoughts on Aguerd to West Ham…

How well do you know where West Ham's signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! First up, where did Fabian Balbuena come in from?

West Ham have improved significantly under Moyes, finishing sixth in 2020/21 and seventh in 2021/22, qualifying for European competitions in both seasons. A big reason they have vastly improved is the shrewd transfer business, such as bringing in Craig Dawson for £2.07m and Tomas Soucek for £14.58m to name a few, as well as the improvement of their star men in Rice and Bowen.

Aguerd could be another star in the making for West Ham, as he ranked in the 90th percentile for passes attempted, the 84th for pass completion and the 82nd for aerial duels won, according to FBRef.

This deal could be done very soon and will surely help improve the West Ham defence as they continue their push to challenge the top six in the Premier League.
