According to ExWHUemployee, West Ham United could sign 27-year-old free agent Adnan Januzaj after the Belgian international was released by Real Sociedad.

West Ham are looking to bolster their attacking options this summer, with a reported move for the former Manchester United starlet Januzaj now linked with the east London club, leading to a potential reunion for the player and manager David Moyes, who worked together at Old Trafford and Sunderland previously.

Ex reported the possible transfer this week, stating that he could be an interesting backup option for Moyes as the player is available on a free, and at the age of 27, he should be coming into his peak as a footballer.

He said on The Transfer Show: “West Ham are looking at Januzaj. He is out of contract – former Manchester United and Sunderland player under David Moyes, has just been released by Real Sociedad. He’s 27, so he’s coming into his peak, a Belgium international, so could be an interesting backup option for West Ham.”

TIF Thoughts on Ex’s comments…

Considering his age and the fact that they could acquire Januzaj on a free, this feels like a win-win situation for West Ham and the player. The Hammers would get a solid backup option for next season without having to fork out a transfer fee and Januzaj gets to work under a former manager of his back in the Premier League.

Last season, the forward bagged himself five goals and three assists in all competitions for Los Txuri-Urdin while averaging 1.5 shots, 1.3 key passes, 1.7 dribbles, 1.3 crosses and 1.2 long balls per game, with a 76% passing accuracy (as per WhoScored).

West Ham have a good opportunity to get themselves a talented attacking player who ranks in the 91st percentile for dribbles completed and the 85th for progressive carries (as per FBRef) without spending a penny, while the player still has the time to develop into an even better asset who could end up starting important games for the Irons.
