Speaking on the Football Daily YouTube channel, Sky Sports’ Chris Hamill has urged Tottenham Hotspur to sign Filip Kostic.

It appears that Antonio Conte is going to receive the backing necessary to improve Spurs and make them stronger favourites to finish in the top four and ultimately challenge for pieces of silverware, with £150m being injected into the coffers just last week.

The early arrival of Ivan Perisic is a statement of intent as Daniel Levy has handed Conte a former player and one with not too many years left on his side at the top level – but when it comes to wingers and wing-backs, they may not be done.

Spurs have been linked with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kostic this summer, and Hamill has urged Tottenham to make the move.

He said: “With the January signings of Bentancur and Kulusevski instantly upgrading the midfield and attack, first on the agenda should be wing-backs, with Conte not fully convinced by the right or left flank this term.

“With one year remaining on his contract, there’s never been a better time to target Eintracht Frankfurt talisman Filip Kostic, who capped off another superb season with victory in the Europa League.

Would Kostic be a good signing for Spurs?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“For the first time in his four years at Frankfurt, the Serbian wide man failed to hit double figures for assists in the league, falling short on just nine, but his creative game remained as strong as ever – laying on three chances per 90, while he was more of a goal threat in Europe, almost averaging three shots a match and scoring a famous brace against Barcelona.

“With Ryan Sessegnon only recently making the first team and Sergio Reguilon not fully trusted, the 29-year old fits Conte’s preference for experienced professionals.”

How well do you know where these Spurs signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! Firstly, where did Dimitar Berbatov arrive from?

Naturally a winger, it would be interesting to see whether or not Kostic would be willing to be converted into more of a wing-back – something Conte is renowned for doing with the likes of Victor Moses and new signing Perisic.

With just one year left on his current contract, it would likely be a relatively simple deal for Spurs to pull off if they were serious with their interest and the winger himself wanted to relocate to north London this summer, which would provide great competition and depth as a winger or wing-back.
