Graeme Bailey has claimed on the Talking Transfers podcast that Tottenham Hotspur could well move for Adama Traore this summer.
It took a while for Tottenham to kick into gear during the January transfer window, which saw them eventually bring in two players on Deadline Day, but it wasn’t that they didn’t try, as they had a long-standing interest in Wolves man Traore.
The Spaniard, who was described as ‘undefendable’ by Jurgen Klopp last season, was seen as someone Conte could mould into a wing-back instead of the more natural winger that he played as at Wolves and continued to do so during his loan stint out in Barcelona – something that won’t be continuing into the new campaign, according to reports.
While Spurs are set to have a bumper transfer budget this summer with ENIC pumping more cash into the club, Bailey believes they could go back in for Traore.
Should Spurs sign Traore?
He said: “I think you’ll see him now going out to get that right wing-back, and I do wonder whether they go back for Adama Traore, I wouldn’t be surprised.”
TIF Thoughts on Traore joining Spurs…
While Spurs are seemingly set to hand Antonio Conte a bumper warchest in the transfer market, bringing in someone such as Traore, who has played as a wing-back before so wouldn’t find the position alien to him, would likely not cost too much as he’s out of contract next year, so this could potentially be a smart piece of business.
Transforming a winger into a wing-back is not something new for Conte, having done the same with Victor Moses during his time at Chelsea, as well as successfully deploying Ivan Perisic, now at Tottenham, as a wing-back for Inter.

It’s like watching a man against boys when he runs through defences. The only issue I have with him is the same issue I have with Emerson Royal. He cant cross a ball, and without that finished article he’s of no use.. Barcelona will attest to that!
Can he be taught? I think it’s too risky.
