Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has claimed Tottenham Hotspur will ‘push ahead and make an offer for Djed Spence in the near future.
Earlier in June, The Guardian reported that Spurs had agreed a fee of about £20m with Middlesbrough to sign the defender (who was on loan with Nottingham Forest last season). Since then, however, no official deal has been confirmed.
In the meantime, though, Tottenham have gone out and signed Yves Bissouma from Brighton on a four-year contract that cost them £25m plus add-ons for the transfer.
With that piece of business now sorted, Taylor has stated that a move for Spence is next on the agenda for the Premier League club and that fans can expect an offer to be put in soon.
Speaking on the Taylor Talks Transfers podcast, he explained: “There’s kind of a feeling that Forest are resigned to losing Spence to Spurs who are expected to push ahead with that deal, as I’ve repeatedly said.
“They’ve been focusing on the Yves Bissouma a deal… so I expect Tottenham to make their offer for Spence.”

TIF thoughts on Djed Spence and Spurs…
Spence spent the season out on loan with Nottingham Forest and seemed to catch the eye in particular with a fine display in the FA Cup against Leicester City which saw the then Championship outfit knock out the former top-flight league winners.
He also played a key part in helping his loan club gain promotion up out of the Championship, playing the 90 minutes in Forest’s 1-0 play-off final win against Huddersfield Town at Wembley Stadium.
When looking at everything, it’s clear to see that Spence’s stock really is on the rise which would explain why Spurs seemingly so are keen on a deal. And, if Taylor’s report is accurate, it looks as though he could be the next man in the door, shortly following the arrival of Bissouma at the north London club.
