Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has revealed that Wolves have ‘opened talks’ regarding the possible transfer of Matheus Nunes.

The Sporting CP man has seemingly been on the club’s radar for some time now as Bruno Lage looks set to try and update his options in the middle of the park.

With the transfer market now open, the Premier League side may well be destined to make a serious attempt at bringing the player over to England if the latest report is accurate.

Indeed, while talking on the Taylor Talks Transfers podcast, the journalist said that talks between Wolves and Nunes’ current club have now begun.

Taylor explained: “Nunes is a player of serious interest to Wolves, who have opened talks with Sporting over a deal.”

TIF thoughts on Matheus Nunes and Wolves…

For fans who haven’t seen much of Nunes, they will be glad to hear the player has already had the seal of approval from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola. Indeed, the manager called the Lisbon man ‘one of the best players in the world today’ earlier on in 2022 (via Inside Sport).

At just 23 years of age, there is plenty of time for the midfielder to develop into an even better player too. Saying that, he has already achieved a lot in Portugal – including a league title victory in the 2020/21 season.

Do you remember who Wolves signed Ivan Cavaleiro from?

With Wolves and Sporting now in talks, it does seem as if the possible deal is pretty far down the line. If both clubs can come to an agreement over the transfer fee and other important details, Nunes could well be in England sooner rather than later.
