Celtic rounded off their title winning season with an impressive, dominant display, blowing the opposition away 6-0 at Celtic Park.
The celebrations were well underway, with it taking just 21 minutes for the opening goal to go in as Kyogo Furuhashi found the back of the net. David Turnbull doubled the lead for Ange Postecoglou’s side before Furuhashi got his second just before the interval.
Will Celtic win SPL next season?
The second half saw Jota and Giorgos Giakoumakis add their names to the scoresheet as the latter bagged a brace as the Hoops paraded their Scottish Premiership title win in fashion in the curtain closing clash.
Stylian Petrov was in awe of the performance from Furuhashi, having the following to say about the Japanese forward on Sky Sports: “Kyogo knows where the goal is and he has been outstanding all season. Even the first goal, he knows where the goalkeeper and the space is. His timing is perfect.”
TIF thoughts on Kyogo Furuhashi…
Kyogo managed to bag himself a brace in the game despite being subbed off in the 62nd minute, but didn’t have the best of stats overall with just 18 touches and a passing accuracy of 77% (as per SofaScore).
The clash with Motherwell saw Furuhashi take his tally for the season to 20 goals, topping off a wonderful debut campaign in Scotland which saw him secure the league and cup double as well as rack up impressive numbers himself.
His record in front of goal all season has been outstanding, so it’s no surprise to see pundits praising the forward who will be looking to build on his performances next season as Celtic’s title defence will be underway, with rivals Rangers will be desperate to reclaim the crown.
