Ange Postecoglou will be looking for Celtic to land a new left-back, right-winger and striker in this summer’s transfer window.

This is according to the football journalist Pete O’Rourke, who has been speaking to This Is Futbol about the summer plans at Parkhead.

Do you expect Jota to sign permanently?

It was an impressive 2021/22 campaign for the Bhoys as they got their hands back on the Scottish crown in a dominant showing from Postecoglou’s men.

However, O’Rourke does not believe the Hoops will be looking to sit on their laurels this summer with improvement on the minds of those in charge.

And the football journalist has highlighted three key areas in which he believes Celtic have marked as a priority to address in this summer’s transfer window:

“Left-back I think is a top priority for Celtic and probably a right-sided winger, and maybe another striker if somebody like [Albian] Ajeti leaves or [someone] else.

“We saw what Celtic’s problems were up front this season when Kyogo [Furuhashi] had his injury and [Giorgos] Giakoumakis struggled [with] injury and form at the start as well.

I think throughout the team, I think Postecoglou will be looking to strengthen and build on the success of this season.”

Interesting first question, how many Celtic fans were inside Ibrox?

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

We are interested to see how Celtic’s summer does pan out with Jota’s initial loan spell with the Bhoys coming to an end in the coming weeks and Cameron Carter-Vickers’ also.

There is definitely a need to improve at left-back with Greg Taylor the club’s only recognised senior left-back in their squad with their two other left-backs loaned out for the 2021/22 campaign.

So it is interesting to hear there may not actually be that much room for improvement but rather squad depth needed with a number of key players picking up injuries over the course of the season.
