Freelance journalist Sean Casey has been speaking on the Loaded HQ YouTube channel about the first deal that Newcastle United have already done.

It was reported yesterday by the Manchester Evening News that a deal which would see Dean Henderson join Newcastle was 99% done, although Eddie Howe has now confirmed in his pre-match press conference that they aren’t close to signing any player.

Would Tarkowski be a good signing?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

However, since securing their Premier League safety it appears that a few things have started to kick into gear in terms of transfers with West Ham reportedly pulling out of a deal for soon to be free agent James Tarkowski because Newcastle is his likely situation.

Tarkowski, who will face the Magpies on Sunday, is all but a Newcastle player for next season, according to Casey.

“Everything that I’ve got on Tarkowski is that it’s done, Tarkowski is a Newcastle player, I can’t kind of hang my hat on that information, not 100% yet just because it’s really very close to the club.

“Supposedly, he’s told the likes of West Ham and Leicester and stuff like that his heart is set on Newcastle so look I think it’s a fantastic signing at 29 years of age.”

TIF Thoughts on Tarkowski…

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

It would be a major coup for Newcastle if they were able to beat off competition from the likes of West Ham and Leicester for an England international that has 193 games worth of Premier League experience under this belt.

Tarkowski would add excellent depth at the centre back position for Eddie Howe and would bring about strong competition for places as he’d be fighting with January signing Dan Burn and rejuvenated Fabian Schar for a starting role.

I don’t know about Leicester, but West Ham have already backed out of signing him… So of course his heart is set on Newcastle (ffs). Hadn’t really got any other choice.

Thank god for that big ears going somewhere else other than west ham. Way overpriced and overated.
