BBC man and former Celtic ace Pat Bonner was left far from impressed by the display shown by midfielder Tom Rogic in the game on Sunday afternoon.

The Bhoys faced their second Glasgow derby in the space of a matter of weeks, this time around in a Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park.

It was an extremely lacklustre first 45 minutes from Ange Postecoglou’s side with the Hoops looking like the side to have played 120 minutes on Thursday night.

It’s been an impressive season for the 29-year-old so far with six goals and six assists in the Scottish Premiership alone – his last goal coming against Rangers (via Transfermarkt).

But the Australian midfielder was one player in particular who received some criticism from Bonner who was reporting for BBC Sportsound:

“The positional play of Rangers has been excellent. Ramsey is almost an inside-right, stopping Taylor getting on the ball. Aribo is high up on McGregor, stopping him influencing the game. The game has been too quick for Tom Rogic so far,” said Bonner.

TIF Thoughts on Bonner’s comments…

We have to agree with Bonner on this occasion with the Australian not having his usual influence on the game which certainly played a role in what was a disappointing display from the Bhoys in the first half.

Having impressed in the game at Ibrox the other week, failing to register a single shot during his 57-minute display before being taken off.

And not only did Rogic struggle in front of goal, but the 29-year-old also had his difficulties defensively with three fouls given away in less than an hour on the pitch (via Goal).
