Rangers take to the field at Hampden Park this afternoon to take on Celtic in another Old Firm clash ladled with significance.

The Scottish giants lock horns once again, this time in a Scottish Cup semi-final, with the Gers desperate for revenge after the crushing defeat at Ibrox which saw the Hoops really take the initiative in the race for the title.

Can Rangers win the Europa League?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The former Gers player, Barry Ferguson, has been previewing the game and has highlighted one major concern for Giovanni van Bronckhorst ahead of what is likely to be a must-win game to salvage something for the Ibrox outfit’s domestic season.

Ferguson, speaking to Go Radio (via Daily Record), highlighted the quality of Kyogo Furuhashi being a real problem for Rangers:

“In terms of a Rangers point of view, it is a worry, I think he is a top player, he causes teams so many problems. Not just with the quality he has got on the ball, it’s off the ball, his movement is exceptional.

“It looks to me the way Postecoglou is talking that he’ll be in from the start and that’s one player Rangers need to keep an eye because he is a real danger. I’d prefer if he wasn’t in the 18. I rate him so highly, I didn’t know anything about him, probably like many people, he has impressed me so much.

“The first half of the season, just his goalscoring, he does the dirty side brilliantly, his movement inside the box is exceptional as well.”

TIF thoughts on Ferguson’s comments…

Celtic certainly have a top-class player in their Japanese international Furuhashi. The forward has been in electric form all season, taking to the Scottish league like a duck to water. He has 27 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops, scoring 16 times and assisting five for his teammates.

Who followed James Tavernier to Rangers from Wigan Athletic in the same season?

With a record like that, you’d imagine that Rangers will have to keep him quiet later today should they have any chance of getting their revenge over their old foe.

However, the Gers have already shown they are capable of beating Postecoglou’s side with Kyogo on the pitch after sealing all three points back in September against the Bhoys at Ibrox.
