Rangers responded to their bitter rival’s emphatic win yesterday with a comfortable victory of their own as they ran out 4-0 winners.

Kemar Roofe was the main man for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side, completing his hattrick with just 50 minutes on the clock, putting the game beyond St Mirren nice and early. The scoring was completed by Joe Aribo after 76 minutes to ensure that maximum points returned to Ibrox.

Can Rangers still win the title?

Understandably, the hattrick hero will be taking the majority of the plaudits for a sensational performance, but he isn’t the only one receiving high praise.

The other goal scorer, Aribo, was lauded by Derek Clark in his player ratings, with the journalist having this to say on his performance: “Superb control and finish for Rangers’ fourth goal of the game, got the ball out from under his feet before curling an exquisite effort into the top corner from the edge of the area. Capped off a very decent showing from the Nigerian. St Mirren struggled to get near him at times, Rangers will be hoping they see more of this level of performance from him going forward.”

Aribo was certainly key to the Gers this afternoon, scoring once and executing five key passes as per SofaScore, with only two of his teammates getting a better overall rating than him on the website. He also had 74 touches while winning seven duels total (as per SofaScore).

Who followed James Tavernier to Rangers from Wigan Athletic in the same season?

It was a vital win for Rangers who couldn’t afford to lose any more ground in the title race to their rivals Celtic. The result now means that the Gers still trail by six points with time running out, you feel it would take a serious collapse from Celtic to allow Rangers to win their second title in two years. All the Ibrox outfit can do is keep winning and hope for a slip up.
