Scottish football player and pundit Richard Foster believes that Celtic should be able to complete permanent transfers for Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota as they now look likely to win the league.

As we head into the final stages of the current season, the Bhoys are in a great spot at the top of the table. Indeed, after winning the Old Firm, they are now six points clear in first place.

Will Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota be at Celtic next season?

No

Speaking as a guest on the PLZ Soccer Show, Foster explained that with that win, they should qualify for the Champions League group stages next season, and so that will be a ‘huge draw’ for possible signings.

He made the claim in reference to Carter-Vickers and Jota, who are both on loan with the club for now and may not necessarily remain in Scotland next term.

Foster said: “Those two players, I think Celtic will be very keen to get them to sign permanently. It looks likely they’re going to win the league now – we still think it gets them straight into the Champions League group stages.

“That’s a huge draw for players. So I think that’s important, when you want to keep your better players, if you’re winning leagues, and you’re getting into Europe, getting into the Champions League, then it’s a huge incentive for them. So I think, I would imagine, both those deals will go through.”

TIF Thoughts on Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota and Celtic…

Carter-Vickers arrived in the summer from Tottenham Hotspur on loan until the end of the season, with Celtic having an option to buy.

It seems the club are keen to make a permanent deal happen, but things could be complicated if Premier League clubs such as Burnley, Wolves and Leicester City decide to make a move – which has been suggested as a possibility in the Daily Record.

Interesting first question, how many Celtic fans were inside Ibrox?

Similarly, Jota also arrived on loan for the season from Benfica, and his contract also includes an option to buy. His uncertain future has suffered plenty of speculation too in recent times, so that deal could potentially fall apart.

With that in mind, it’s easy to see why Foster is so keen to emphasise the importance of sealing the league win and claiming that Champions League spot as an incentive for the players to stay.
