Pete Graves has identified the perfect signing for Newcastle United while speaking on the Loaded HQ YouTube channel.

Newcastle were obviously were busy in January by bringing in five new players, and they all look to have played their part in all but guaranteeing the Magpies’ status as a Premier League club for next season, which will be huge when it comes to attracting bigger and better players this summer.

An easy one to start with, which player was booked after pushing Bentancur to the ground?

One of the players who has been very strongly linked with a move to St James’ Park this summer is Lucas Paqueta – a former teammate of Bruno Guimaraes – with the Lyon midfielder having already taken in a Magpies match this season, and luckily, it was the one in which Guimaraes scored the winning goal against Southampton.

Graves believes that signing Paqueta to link up with Guimaraes again would make sense for the Magpies.

He said: “Obviously, he was at the Southampton game, so you know, it would make sense, wouldn’t it? They seem to have a great connection on the field, it would certainly make sense. I think if there was a deal to be done there, he’d be perfect, from the bits I’ve seen him play.”

Should Newcastle sign Paqueta?

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle signing Paqueta…

It had been reported prior to the January transfer window that Paqueta would cost Newcastle €40m (£33m), which would be less than his former Brazilian teammate and this could show great value if the pair were to link up once again and create a dynamic duo in the middle of Eddie Howe’s midfield.

Paqueta is enjoying an outstanding season with Lyon, having played 35 times already while netting nine goals and registering six assists in the process, so he would almost certainly add goals to the Newcastle side – something that’s been missing this season as their top-scoring central midfielder has just two goals.
