Celtic are edging closer to usurping Rangers as the Scottish champions, looking set to be guided to a maiden league crown under Ange Postecoglou.

Tom Rogic looked set to be on his way out of Celtic last season when a £4 million deal was agreed between the Hoops and an unnamed Qatari side. However, the Australian rejected the move and remained part of the Scottish giants.

The Australian has certainly been a key player for his compatriot in his first season in charge at Celtic Park. Rogic has played a total of 44 games already in all competitions, showing how vital he is to Postecoglou.

He has, however, entered the final 15 months of his contract at Celtic Park, with no extension yet to be agreed between the two parties.

Pete O’Rourke has given his insight on any current updates on the Australian’s future: “I’m sure, behind the scenes, Celtic’s powerbrokers will be looking at Rogic’s contract again. He’s out of contract in 2023, so he’s not got that long left on his current deal.”

Interesting first question, how many Celtic fans were inside Ibrox?

We absolutely agree with O’Rourke on the idea of Celtic likely to be intent on securing the midfielder’s future at Parkhead given he has been such a prominent feature in Postecoglou’s side.

His form in the league has been unreal too, scoring six and assisting six in his 27 outings to date, an impressive return for the midfielder when you have the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi and Jota playing in front of him bagging for fun!

The Hoops hold a six-point advantage over arch-rivals Rangers as we head into the final stages of the season, with another title on course to be heading to Parkhead.
