Journalist Dean Jones has claimed Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been questioned over his team selections.

Rangers currently sit second in the SPFL but are six points behind the leaders, who also have a better goal difference.

With just five games to go and Celtic’s last defeat in the league coming in October, it is hard to see a way back for Van Bronckhorst’s side.

The recent Old Firm derby loss for Rangers made a huge dent in Van Bronckhorst’s side’s chances of retaining the league title, as a win would have seen them on level points with the Hoops.

With Rangers currently sitting second in the league table, Jones spoke to GIVEMESPORT and claimed that there have been some question marks over the Dutch manager’s team selections in recent games – but expects the Gers boss to maintain the trust of those around him.

He said: “In terms of Van Bronckhorst’s future, his team selections are being questioned a bit, but he is generally trusted right now, and I see him carrying on and having a voice on how they move forward.”

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’ comments…

Giovanni Van Bronckhorst was hit with a huge loss when it was announced that Alfredo Morelos would miss the Old Firm derby and the rest of the season, which reduced Rangers’ chances of winning the game and consequently, the league title.

Van Bronckhorst opted for Kemar Roofe in the Old Firm derby, but the Jamaican forward failed to fill Morelos’ boots as he couldn’t impact the game. The Dutch manager then opted to start Fashion Sakala against SC Braga in the Europa League, which also failed to pay dividends as he was awarded a player rating of just 6.1.

Rangers have had just one transfer window since Van Bronckhorst arrived at the club, so it could be deemed unfair to judge him before he has had the chance to bring in his players that suit his system.
