Image for Celtic: Image emerges of shocking Bobby Madden decision

Celtic fans may feel they should have been playing against 10 men on Sunday in their Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park.

An image has emerged from the game against their rivals showing a strong challenge on Kyogo Furuhashi which was only deemed a yellow card offence by referee Bobby Madden.

Should Goldson have seen red for this challenge?

Chris Sutton has since vented his frustrations towards the official on Twitter – and he may have the tackle from Connor Goldson in mind.

The image to emerge on Twitter shows the Rangers defender diving into a challenge on the forward, with Madden watching on from close range.

Goldson’s foot certainly appears to be high as he dives into the challenge on the Japanese international and if he had caught him, there could be a case for it being more than worthy of a red card.

However, only a yellow was shown and the defender went on to see out the game for the Gers, who quickly turned the match around just minutes after the challenge.

TIF Thoughts on the image…

This will only add to the frustration of the Celtic fans after what was a pretty dismal display from Ange Postecoglou’s side despite playing against a side who’d played 120 minutes on Thursday evening.

And we think this image will anger the Celtic faithful, however, they may also feel relieved to see Kyogo come out of the challenge without a fresh injury.

The Japanese forward is still in the process of making his return to the action after a long-term injury and this challenge could certainly have set him back.

Rangers hadn’t clawed the equaliser back by this stage and had they been reduced to 10 men, it would definitely have provided Postecoglou’s men with the upper hand.
